Optometry Director

Dr Philip Cheng

Dr Philip Cheng is the founder and director of The Myopia Clinic Melbourne. Graduating from the University of Melbourne in 2003, he is recognised as one of Australia’s leading myopia control and OrthoK practitioners. Philip holds prestigious certifications including the Fellowship of the International Academy of Orthokeratology & Myopia Control (FIAOMC) and the International Academy Certification in Myopia Management (IACMM), and serves on the board of the Orthokeratology Society of Oceania. He is an internationally respected lecturer, author, and mentor, dedicated to providing exceptional eye care and ensuring every child has the opportunity for clear vision and healthy eyes in life.

Senior Optometrist

Dr Jessica Atme

Dr Jessica Atme is our senior associate optometrist, consulting four days a week. She is a therapeutically endorsed Doctor of Optometry from the University of Melbourne and has earned awards for academic excellence and outstanding clinical care. Jessica has completed advanced postgraduate training in contact lenses, and has a special interest in orthokeratology (OrthoK), scleral lenses, custom rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses, and dry eye management. With a strong passion for paediatric vision care and myopia management, she combines her clinical expertise with a caring approach to provide comprehensive, patient-focused eye care for the whole family.

Senior Optometrist

Dr Loretta Li

Dr Loretta Li is a therapeutically endorsed optometrist with more than 18 years of clinical experience in Melbourne and Adelaide. She graduated with Honours from the University of Auckland and has developed a strong professional focus on ocular disease, dry eye management, and advanced contact lens fitting. Loretta holds particular expertise in myopia control, with extensive hands-on experience fitting MiSight 1 day lenses to help slow myopia progression in children. Loretta consults part-time at our clinic and is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, enabling her to communicate effectively with patients from a wide range of backgrounds.

Clinical Support Staff

From the moment you step into our clinic, our attentive reception team and highly trained optical assistants ensure your visit is seamless, personalised, and relaxed. They provide discreet, professional support to our optometrists, helping every aspect of your eye care journey feel effortless.

 

Our specialised Contact Lens Team—comprising experienced OrthoK and contact lens wearers—share a genuine passion for working with children. With exceptional patience, refined expertise, and a reassuring touch, they guide young patients in mastering their OrthoK and contact lenses with confidence and ease.
